College football season kicked off on Saturday with the home opener vs. James Madison. Arlo came to a couple tailgates last year, but this was his first chance to really ENJOY it! Our new parking space/tailgate is on Country Club Rd across the street from the Forest Theatre. There is tons of shade and grass and it feels very park-like...quite a departure from your average tailgating spot which is usually hot, hard, dirty asphalt - not exactly great for a super active crawling baby. There are even picnic tables nearby that we could use. The stadium is an easy walk, getting in and out is a snap, and we are so pleased to have the opportunity to be there!
He's a natural fan and knew exactly what to do with a pom-pom as evidenced in this adorable video.
Still shaking that thing.
The Vandegrifts got Arlo this super awesome Carolina camp chair so he can hang with the big guys. He loves it!
GranDeda offered Arlo a little watermelon...
...which he gladly accepted.
Vaughn was super sweet with Arlo and he obviously adores her. She was so attentive to him and even let him crawl on her (he wanted to grab her gorgeous blond braids so badly!). It is obvious she's a big sister twice over...she's a pro.
Arlo was whisked away before the game by his other Grandma so he could head home and get some zzzz's while Charlie and I cheered on the Heels to their victory over JMU. We hope to bring him to a game soon, but I don't know how he'd handle not being able to get down and crawl, so we'll see!
The only thing that was missing from this day of course was Liz. We all missed her terribly and we know that tailgating or Carolina football will never be the same. But we also know she was watching the game along with us and cheering as loud as can be. Her presence was felt and added to our joy. Some of you will recognize this picture because it is Liz's profile pic on Facebook. This was taken in mid-November of last year when Arlo was only 1 month old.
We love you and miss you every day, Liz.
