Kidney Kare Run/Walk

This morning was the Kidney Kare Run/Walk.  It's a 5K event that raises money to support the Kidney Education Outreach Program (a statewide awareness & kidney screening program), the Patient Emergent Need Fund and the Transplant Awareness Fund.

Charlie, Arlo and I went to cheer on the runners and walkers.  It was a GORGEOUS morning.

Our close family friend, Emily Barwick, ran in honor of Liz and raised a ton of money...over $1100!

Deda and her friend, Sarah, participated in the walk, too.
Arlo was anxiously watching to catch sight of GranDeda at the finish line.

Here they come!

They were super excited to finish with a great time.  :)

And even more excited when they caught a glimpse of Arlo.

Deda and Emily after the race.

Post-race snuggles.

After the awards ceremony, we headed over to Johnny's in Carrboro for some fabulous coffee and delicious crepes from Parlez Vous Crepe

We tried out Arlo's "my-future's-so-bright-I-gotta-wear-shades" sunglasses.  Despite the funny look on his face in this picture, he actually he didn't mind them at all!

Now we're home after a super fun morning, ready to get comfortable in the recliner with the remote control and watch some basketball.  :)

Hooray for weekends!

Love, Katie
